I was always one to do everything quickly, so quickly that I would drive many others around me crazy. Needless to say, things aren’t going so quickly anymore! I am now 65, and have had Parkinson’s Disease for 12 years. I remain active in various groups, including our church choir, and try to maintain my “normal” cheery disposition, but have been known to sit on the “pity pot” on several occasions.
A year or so ago, I had joined Christian Mingle.com, and mentioned my Parkinson’s Disease right up front. This past December, I met this wonderful man who was taken by my picture and decided to contact me regardless of the fact that I had PD. We hit it off from the beginning, and have now been seriously dating for five months. I just wanted to mention this for anyone else out there who might think that Parkinson’s Disease is the end of his or her dating life. I never expected anything like this, and it has changed my life immensely. Never stop trying to live your life as normally as possible.
As far as APDA is concerned, I don’t think it would be possible to get from one day to the next without such an organization. I eagerly await emails and devour them immediately upon receipt. Keep them coming!
